Commitment & FutureWe have the future firmly in mind and support education

EUROPA-CENTER AG’s longer-term existence is secure: the Suhr family’s charitable foundations will in future become shareholders in the real estate group. Supporting science, research and teaching is a focus both for the foundations and the company.

EUROPA-CENTER AG is 85% owned by the original founders and owners, the Suhr family. One of the main concerns of Uwe Heinrich Suhr and his wife Ingeborg is that their life’s work should be continued sustainably and long into the future. The Suhr family is therefore progressively transferring its shares in EUROPA-CENTER to the Uwe Heinrich Suhr Foundation and the Ingeborg Suhr Foundation. These not-for-profit foundations will in future be EUROPA-CENTER AG’s shareholders.

Combining entrepreneurial commitment with social responsibility has always been a subject close to Uwe Heinrich Suhr’s heart. Together with his wife, he established the not-for-profit foundations in 1999, which promote social and societal projects and support science and research. For example, the foundations finance a BIM guest professorship at HafenCity University Hamburg, a university for architecture and metropolitan development. Building information modelling (BIM) is leading the building industry into the digital age and helps in planning and bringing properties to fruition, as well as in their management. In addition, the charitable foundations support students, for example, by offering a BIM prize and German scholarships.

Supporting Education

EUROPA-CENTER supports the EBS Real Estate Management Institute at EBS University, one of the world’s leading training and continuing education institutes for real estate economics. EUROPA-CENTER thus contributes to scientific research, the training and further education of young executives in the real estate sector and as an intermediary between science and practice.
EUROPA-CENTER is also a member of the “Förderverein Real Estate and Leadership Foundation e.V.” association which supports the “Real Estate and Leadership” master programme. The purpose of the association is to promote science, research and education on interdisciplinary, cross-interface and leadership topics within the real estate industry. Thomas Brune, Director of planning und construction at EUROPA-CENTER, is a personal founding member of the REaL Foundation: “I am particularly impressed by the high value placed on the topic of leadership in this programme: in addition to ever more complex planning content, the number of people involved in real estate projects is also growing. Coordination and management tasks are therefore becoming increasingly important for successful implementation.”
